🐣New Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing - Do Good Foods LLC🐣
On June 16, 2023, NJ-based Do Good Foods LLC (“DGF”) and seven affiliates filed chapter 11 bankruptcy cases in the District of Delaware (Judge ) — the latest in a recent string of agriculture businesses to end up in bankruptcy (see also Kalera Inc. and AeroFarms Inc.).1 With its production facility in PA, DGF purportedly can take 160 tons of surplus food waste from 450 grocery stores and convert it into nutritious feed for animals; it then processes and sells those animals as a sustainable alternative to mass-produced options you can find on grocery store shelves. Ever heard of Do Good Chicken? Yeah, that’s the end product. Frankly, this sh*t sounds pretty darn cool and, assuming away any negative effects from transport, good for the environment. The company was started by the Kamine family, helmed by Hal Kamine, who has quite the background. It was named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies as recently as March!
